If you are finding that you are starting to lose motivation in your fitness efforts then I have some ideas that may help you to get back on track. I understand that the journey to a better, healthier, fitter version of yourself can take some time and along the way you are bound to start slipping and letting old habits creep back in slowly. Don’t beat yourself up too much because this is bound to happen, you are only human after all…hopefully
Living in Australia there is a lot of reason to stay healthy and keep fit. Here are a few things that you can do to get yourself back up and going again.
- Go To The Beach.
- Watch An Action Movie.
- Watch Boxing or UFC.
- Pick A Different Tempo.
- Just Get Up.
This is probably the biggest and most motivating reason for a lot of people to go to the gym. We all want that perfect beach body, so why not hit the beach (in summer of course) and gain the motivation from others who have achieved their goal. Don’t let negative thoughts that you wont make it creep in to your head but use the opportunity to gain motivation and know that you will get there one day. Australia has a lot of beaches, it is surrounded by them so if you live near the beach then just try it. Go there and admire.
There is something about watching our favourite heroes defeat bad guys that gets me pumped up. I don’t know what it is but seeing all that action and fighting puts me in the mood to work out, and to work out hard. Visions of me defeating the forces of evil keeps me pumping those weight til my muscles BURN.
UFC and boxing are a good exhibition of fitness and skill. They are like action movies and help motivate you to get in the same shape. Another good idea is to actually join an MMA class, or take boxing for fitness. These classes can prove to be very beneficial as they are never routine and the workouts are mixed up each session so boredom is never usually a problem.
Perhaps you are losing motivation because you are trying to maintain the same intensity each time you workout. Remember that difference is the key, you dont want to let your muscles adapt to your workouts. So while slowing down your routine might seem counter-productive, the truth is it will benefit you. Even try something like Yoga, this will help with flexbility as well as stamina, trust me you get VERY exhausted doing Yoga.
Sometimes if all else fails the only thing you can really do is just get off your back and go. I know many times when I have felt too tired to head to the gym, and yet I just force myself off the couch and go – guess what? I really enjoy myself at the gym and feel so much better for it.
These are just some ideas that I can provide to help you bring that motivation back in check. The last one I will tell you is to just remember why you are doing it? This can prove to be the biggest motivator overall. Australia has a lot of temptations, temptations that make us go to the gym, and temptations that keep us from going. Life is all about balance, so make sure you get enough of both.
Please share with us any other ideas that you have that keep you motivated and striving forward.
